Stred's Game-Winner Lifts Hornets Past Drury

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Mason Stred scored the game-winner in the second half to give the McCann Tech boys soccer team a 2-1 win over Drury on Thursday.

 

Ben Harris made nine saves to earn the win in goal for the Hornets, who led, 1-0 at half-time after Hayden Bona scored off a corner kick with an assist from Max Plekhanov.

 

In the second half, Diego Luna set up Isaac Vazquez for the equalizer.

 

But McCann struck back when Brennan Vallieres set up Stred, who made it 2-1.

 

Harris made a clutch diving save for the Hornets in the final minutes to preserve the win.

 

Max Soto made six saves for Drury (4-3), which has a long layoff to get ready for hosting Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter on Oct. 1.

 

The day before, the Dragons make their first trip to North Adams in 24 hours to face McCann Tech (5-0-1) on Wednesday.
