PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Michael Boland scored two goals and assisted on a third to lead the Drury High School boys soccer team to a 3-0 win over St. Joseph on Wednesday.

"This game was a must win for us in the South," Drury coach Greg Caproni said. "St. Joe is having a rough season but still could surprise some teams. We started playing well but just couldn't finish, per usual, and this kept St. Joe in the game.

"But once we found the net things started going our way."

Boland got the game's first goal in the 35th minute with an assist from Than Preite.

Stephin Wallace set up Boland for a breakaway goal early in the second half to make it 2-0. And Boland connected with Matt Vachereau to cap the scoring in the closing minutes.

"I was pleased to see Sully Boland find the net a couple of times in this game," Caproni said. "He was making some great penetrating runs to make himself open."

Joe Liporace made 10 saves and got strong defensive support from Wallace and Chris Andrews.

The Blue Devils (3-3) host Pioneer in a non-league game on Saturday.
