SHEFFIELD, Mass. — After suffering back-to-back losses, the Hoosac Valley boys' soccer team returned to the win column in dramatic fashion on Friday, scoring a pair of goals in the final three minutes to earn a 3-1 win at Mount Everett.

Despite a 20-8 edge in shots in the match, the Hurricanes (3-2) were unable to shake free from the Eagles until senior Nick Ryan headed in a pass from sophomore Sean Ryan-Kut in the 77th minute of play. Senior forward Mitchell Carlow then scored on a breakaway two minutes later to put the game away.

Everett goalie Blake Ferrara, who finished with 16 saves on the day, was tough to beat for most of the day. Hoosac got to him once in the first half, when junior Shaun Knapp finished off a quick 1-2 pass with Ryan-Kut inside the Eagles' goal box. The hosts tied the game three minutes later, however, on penalty kick conversion by Nick Tomich.

That was the only goal allowed by Hurricanes' keeper Tom Galisa, who finished with six stops in the game. Hoosac also received stellar defensive play from senior midfielder Matt Bresett

The 'Canes next play at St. Joe's at 4 p.m. on Monday.
