WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Consistency and relentlessness are what led the Mount Greylock boys soccer team to its 6-0 win in its home opener Friday evening against Burr and Burton Academy of Manchester, Vt.

Senior Eric Hirsch opened the scoring for the Mounties in the first half with a header assisted by senior Grant Raphael. Hirsch no sooner put another one in the back of the net three minutes later coming from senior Dan Flynn.

"Eric Hirsch has really stepped up his game since last season,” Mount Greylock coach Blair Dils said. “He appears to be a threat to score or create a scoring opportunity every time he touches the ball.”

Sophomore, Felix Kershaw, who suffered a groin injury in the second half of last season, certainly made the most of his return to the field tonight, scoring twice for the Mounties: once in the first half to end the half at 3-0 and again in the second.

Flynn and freshman Sam Dils added the other two goals for Greylock.

The last time those two teams met was during Western Mass Semi-Finals last season. Mount Greylock took the win in penalty kicks.

It’s always a great game when our two teams get together and we’re eagerly looking forward to facing one of our Berkshire County foes,” Dils said.
