NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Asia Smith-Moody scored a pair of goals Wednesday as the Pittsfield girls soccer team opened the season with a 4-3 win at Drury.

Quinn Wheeler and Reese Albano each scored a goal for the Generals, who got three assists from Madi Pope.

“Madi Pope was masterful at distribution today and was effective on each corner kick,” PHS coach Molly West said. “We scored off of two [of Pope’s corners]. We found gaps early and often and had more chances to score but didn't finish so that is a goal, but proud of our efforts. Defensively (Hannah Dalton, Addie Palmer, Brooke Wong and Ava Palmer) we played very well as a unit and I was extremely proud of their communication.

“Asia Smith-Moody scored a head ball goal off of a corner and it was one of the most beautiful goals I've ever seen. Looking forward to our growth every day."

Ella Kroboth stopped four shots to earn the win in goal.

Ella Bond scored a goal and assisted on the other two scores for Drury. Lily Mirante and Steph LaCasse each scored a goal in the loss.

Drury (0-1) goes to Hoosac Valley on Saturday.

Pittsfield (1-0) is at Lenox on Friday.
