NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- A Commerce girls' soccer team playing with only 10 players eventually wore down against McCann Tech on Friday. After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, the Hornets came out firing with five goals in the second half to walk away with a 6-0 win at home.

With the Red Raiders shorthanded, McCann head coach Mike Dowling had the opportunity to play many reserves and try some players in new positions. Two of those reserves, Sam Odell and Britt Lillie, took advantage of their opportunity and scored their first goals of the season on Friday. Juniors Alexa Durant and Alex Lincoln helped clinch the win for the Hornets (7-3-1) by each scoring a pair of goals within an eight and a half minute span early in the second half. Classmate Mary Nguyen also had a big day, assisting on two of the five goals scored after halftime.

Sophomore Alex Wood got the start in net for McCann. She one save before giving way to Lillie, who stopped four shots in the game. Denasia Bowie finished with 18 saves for a winless Commerce squad.

The Hornets next host Renaissance at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
