Wahconah Concludes Regular Season with Comeback Win

DALTON, Mass. -- Leah Melle Wednesday scored off a corner kick late in the first half to give the Wahconah girls soccer team the lead in a comeback, 4-1, win over Springfield International Charter on Senior Night.

Brooke Harrington tied the game, 1-1, with a goal assisted by Olivia Johnson with 10 minutes left in the half.

Harrington then set up Melle for the game-winner.

"The SICS goalie had 22 saves, including punching three balls over the cross bar, but our team continued to press eventually scoring two more goals," Wahconah coach Maggie Rivers said.

Melle scored an insurance goal with an assist from Gianna Heilbroun, who later converted a penalty kick.

Vivian Higuera made one save to earn the win in goal.

Before the game, Wahconah recognized seniors Lorelei Hoskeer, Miranda White and Gracey Farley.
