WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Sophomore Sophie Leamon continued to make an impact for the Mount Greylock girls' soccer team on Saturday. This time, Leamon scored the game's only goal a minute and half into the second half to lead the Mounties to a 1-0 home win over Easthampton in the first round of the Division 2 Western Mass. tournament.

With the Greylock defense holding the No. 11 Eagles (7-5-4) to just two shots in the game, the No. 6 Mounties (11-5-3) needed just one goal to take control of Saturday's game. They got their opportunity shortly after the second-half whistle when junior Alex Majetich found Leamon with a through ball into the Easthampton box. Leamon took the ball to the goal and fired a shot that hit off the hands of Eagles' keeper Alyssa Fugiel (eight saves) and landed in the back of the net.

Greylock goalkeeper Margot Besnard stopped all three shots she faced to earn her ninth shutout of the season. The Mounties now advance to Tuesday's quarterfinals, when they will play at No. 3 Wahconah. The two teams just met up last week in the final regular season game and settled for a 1-1 tie in Williamstown.
