Monument Mountain Girls Down Agawam

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Sadie Raifstanger had a goal and an assist, and Ani Hocker stopped a penalty shot in net Monday as the Monument Mountain girls soccer team defeated Agawam, 2-1.

Violet Camarra started the scoring two minutes in when she volleyed home a corner kick from Raifstanger.

The Spartans then opened the second half with a goal by Raifstanger, who was assisted by Addie Aloisi.

Agawam eventually cut into the two-goal margin on a penalty kick, something Hocker fended off late in the first half.

“Monument got a great defensive performance from the backline of Scarlett Ivas, Juniper Raczkowski, Sofia Castro and Kenzie Scarbro, but it was the goalkeeping by Ani Hocker, which carried the night,” Spartans coach Sean Flynn said.

Monument Mountain (7-9-1) has one more game left in the regular season against an opponent and on a date to be announced.
