PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Berkshire County High School Bowling League Friday recognized its past and celebrated its current crop of seniors on the final day of the regular season.

Now in its 20th season, the league used the opportunity to honor some of the stars who have helped make Berkshire County a leader in the commonwealth in 10-pin bowling.

Nine members of the 12-person inaugural class of the Berkshire County High School Bowling Hall of Fame were in attendance at K&M Bowling for a ceremony chronicling their accomplishments.

All 12 inductees were represented at the event, where league co-founder Lou Orazio presented plaques commemorating their enshrinement.

The goal of the Hall of Fame is to have all inductees recognized on nameplates on plaques to be placed at the county’s bowling alleys.

Among the honorees on Friday were a former Intercollegiate Team Championships individual titlist, Monument Mountain grad Tom Hankey Jr., and numerous recipients of the Berkshire league’s highest honors: the Pete Snyder Sportsmanship Award and the Lou Ozario Leadership Award.

This year’s Snyder and Ozario honorees were named as part of the league’s traditional Senior Day festivities.

The sportsmanship award went to Mount Everett’s Finn Vion, and Monument Mountain’s Noah Walker took home the leadership trophy.

Senior Day also is when the league recognizes its all-league team. This year’s six recipients of that honor were Pittsfield’s Jamari Carnute, Lee’s Devyn Fillio and Maddie Kotek, Taconic’s Luzis Brown, McCann Tech’s Connor Snow and Monument Mountain’s Mason Bailey.

After the season-ending festivities and Hall of Fame inductions were held, the league got down to the business of positional week, which sets the stage for next Friday’s four-team county championship tournament at Cove Lanes in Great Barrington.

Lee beat Taconic, 2-1, behind Fillio, who rolled games of 214 and 166.

But Taconic’s Brown had the best day of the season for any bowler in the league, throwing a 279 game that tied Monument Mountain’s Steve Woodard for the best game this winter, and Brown’s 520 two-game series was the best recorded in the league this year.

Woodard’s Spartans beat McCann Tech, 3-0, behind Bailey’s 425 series. Snow rolled a 214 game and 403 series for the Hornets.

The day’s third match saw Pittsfield beat Mount Everett, 3-0. Carnute led the Generals with a 222 game and 416 series.

Friday’s semi-finals will see Monument Mountain face top-seeded Lee and McCann Tech take on Taconic at 4 p.m. with the winners meeting right after for the county championship.

Photos from this meet to come.

Final standings: 1. Lee, 28-5; 2. Taconic, 22-11; 3. McCann Tech, 21-12; 4 Monument Mountain, 18-15; 5. Pittsfield, 7-26; 6. Mount Everett, 3-30.
