Jordan Kinnas
St. Joseph

St. Joseph senior Jordan Kinnas won the state individuals bowling championship on Sunday in Chicopee. Kinnas rolled a 947 in the qualifying round and then went on two big wins in the playoffs. First, he recorded a perfect game to beat Assabet's Andrew Hall in the semi-finals. Then, Kinnas rolled a 257 to edge Lee's J.T. Sorrentino, who was the top qualifier going into head-to-head play.

During the regular season, Kinnas led the Crusaders to a fifth-place finish in the 10-team Berkshire County League.

Sam Farina
Lee

Lee's Sam Farina won the girls individual state championship on Sunday, capping a stellar season. Farina was among the leaders among girls all season in the Berkshire County League and helped the Wildcats win the county title at Greylock Bowl and Golf. Along the way, she rolled a 266 on Jan. 30, which ranks as the second-best game among girls in league history, according to its website.

On Sunday, she qualified for match play with the highest total in the field, 883. That allowed her to sit out the semi-finals, where Mount Everett's Paige Parks-Smith defeated Drury's Kayla Field, 206-164. In the championship match, Farina rolled a 196 to top Parks-Smith.

iBerkshires Sports and Capital Region Honda Dealers, including Bedard Honda in Cheshire, will be spotlighting two Berkshire County high school athletes each week, a boy and a girl, who best excelled in their sport or boosted their teams' efforts.
