Emily Rosse
Hoosac Valley

Senior forward Emily Rosse had a busy first week of the high school basketball season. In Friday's opener, she took care of a longtime personal goal by scoring her 1,000th career point with the final bucket of a 25-point performance on the road at Taconic.

On Wednesday night, she scored 15 in a big out-of-county win over West Springfield that helped show the rest of Western Massachusetts that the Hurricanes have not missed a beat as they look to defend their back-to-back sectional titles.

Kareen Beckett
Drury

The Drury High School boys basketball team had a big start to its 2014-15 season, and senior forward Kareen Beckett is a big reason why. Beckett is averaging 11 points and eight rebounds per game in the Blue Devils' first three wins.

The 5-foot-10 Beckett has seven 3-pointers so far this season, showing a presence inside and outside for Drury. He was named the MVP of this week's Gene Wein Tournament after scoring 22 and grabbing nine boards in a five-point win over Wahconah.
