Grace Smith
Mount Greylock

Mount Greylock junior Grace Smith finished more than a minute and a half ahead of the competition at the inaugural cross country ski race of the season, leading the Mounties to a team victory at Prospect Mountain in Woodford, Vt. As a sophomore, Smith finished fifth at the state championships at Notchview — the best performance by a Western Massachusetts competitor — to lead Mount Greylock to a second-place team finish.

Jonah Swotes
Mount Everett

Monument Mountain junior Jonah Swotes has backstopped the Mount Everett cooperative hockey team to an undefeated start against Massachusetts competition. And last weekend in New York’s Capital District, Swotes was named the MVP of a holiday tournament after the Eagles battled to a win and an overtime loss against Christian Brothers Academy and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, respectively.

iBerkshires Sports and Capital Region Honda Dealers, including Bedard Honda in Cheshire, will be spotlighting two Berkshire County high school athletes each week, a boy and a girl, who best excelled in their sport or boosted their teams' efforts.
