Everett's Lupiani Wins Title at Mountie Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Mount Everett's Bradley Lupiani defeated Taconic's Nick Bailey by technical fall to win Berkshire County's only championship at the 21st annual Mountie Invitational on Saturday at Mount Greylock.
 
The county had five wrestlers represented in Saturday's championship matches.
 
Lupiani defeated Bailey by technical fall to claim the title.
 
The county had three other second-place finishers on the day. At 145, Taconic's Dylan Sickell was pinned by Ponagansett's Tyler Noury in 1 minute, 11 seconds. At 160, Hampshire's Brandon Weyant pinned Greylock's David O'Brien in 2:52. And at 182, Narragansett's Michael Gallagher defeated Monument Mountain's Jonah Christianson by technical fall at 3:19.
 
Gallagher's points helped Narragansett take the team title with 208.5 points.
 
Monument was the top county squad, in sixth place out of 21 schools with 108.5 points. Taconic was seventh with 92. Mount Greylock and Mount Everett were 12th and 14th, respectively.
 
For the host Mounties, Devin Pelletier won by major decision over Monument's Sebastien Zapata in the third-place match after falling into the consolation draw in the semifinals at 138. Pelletier went 4-1 on the day to run his record to 34-7.
 
Mount Greylock's Jude Rorke also reached the semifinals at 106. He ended up losing in the third-round match and finishing fourth with a record of 2-2.
 
Monument got third-place showings by Mark Leon-Duque (170) and Robert Yvon (195), and a fourth from Mike Molina at 152.
 
Two Taconic wrestlers finished fourth: Josh Broskey at 195 and Dave Jones at 220.
