NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Emma Whitney won two individual events and swam on a pair of winning relays Friday to lead the Hoosac Valley swimming team to a 123-47 win over Taconic Hills as the Hurricanes improved to 10-0 this season.

Whitney won the 500-yard freestyle in 5 minutes, 51.86 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:05.26 at the Northern Berkshire YMCA.

She also swam the first leg on Hoosac's 200 medley relay and 200 free relay quartets that finished first.

The Hoosac girls had a first-place finisher in every discipline on Friday.

Cori Ghidotti won the 50 free (27:05) and 100 free (59:54).

Ellie Bird won the 200 free (2:03.96), Julia Whitney won the 200 individual medley (2:26.80), Alyssa Bush won the 100 butterfly (1:05.21) and Liz Bernardy won the 100 breast stroke (1:13.96).

Joining Emma Whitney on the 200 medley relay were Bernardy, Ellie Field and Ghidotti. Both Whitneys, Elizabeth Bartlett and Bush swam the 200 free relay. In the final event for the girls, Ghidotti, Bush, Bernardy and Field won the 400 relay.

In the boys competition, Taconic Hills got a 92-51 win, but Hoosac's score was held down by the number of open slots in its lineup.

Michah Tassone, Mike DiSanti and Keith Pero each picked up individual titles, and Hoosac won the 200 medley relay.

Pero took first in the 500 free (6:33.70) and 100 breast. Tassone won the 200 IM (3:03.21), and DiSanti won the 50 free (:26.20).

That threesome and Hoosac's only other boy in the meet, Bailey DiSanti, combined to win the 200 MR, but Taconic Hills piled up enough seconds and thirds -- and fielded two more relay quartets than the 'Canes -- to get the team win.
