Westfield Girls Defeat Wahconah

DALTON, Mass. -- Victoria Whalen scored five goals, and Mackenzie Millikan added four to lead the Westfield girls lacrosse team to an 18-16 win over Wahconah on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Morgan Francese scored four goals to lead Wahconah, which got three goals apiece from four different players: Paige Chiaretta, Jordan Budaj , Perin Genaway and Angela Colson.
 
Emmy Cote had two assists for Wahconah, which got 14 saves from Katie Bachli.
 
"This was a great battle for both teams," Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. "Each team worked hard, and all I can say is it was a great game.
 
"It was a good game to help us get ready for Western Mass tournament play."
 
On Monday, Francese and Chiaretta scored three goals apiece to lead Wahconah to a 16-9 win over Hoosac Valley. Shaina Farrell had three assists in that win.
 
Luz Culpepper and Michaela DeFoe combined for nine saves against the Hurricanes.
 
Hoosac got five goals from Holly Cadren and 23 saves from Kelsey Hosley.
