Mount Greylock Boys, Girls Defeat Lee

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Charlotte Rand and Tyra Nurmi won a thrilling three-set victory at No. 1 doubles to give the Mount Greylock girls tennis team a 3-2 win over Lee on Monday afternoon.
 
Rand and Nurmi defeated the Wildcats' tandem of Sarah Winston and Maddie Disantis, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6). The Mount Greylock pair survived four match points before prevailing.
 
Mount Greylock's girls also picked up wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles from, respectively, Melina Sfakianaki and Mariza Sfakianaki, who won in straight sets against Lee's Emma Forget and Julie Leprevost.
 
Lee got wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles. Caitlyn Briggs beat Mount Greylock's Tara Shastri, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Lee's Ashley Kelly and Kate DelSignor defeated Katie Mick and Amy Larabee, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3.
 
On the boys side, the Mounties cruised to a 5-0 win to improve to 6-1 overall and 6-0 in Berkshire County.
 
The Mounties picked up four wins in straight sets, but the No. 1 doubles pair of Jake Foehl and Gray Kaegi was pushed by Lee's Matty Kelley and Michael Eckert before winning, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
 
Other winners for Mount Greylock included Will Nolan, Nyein Soe and Alex Cheung at Nos. 1-3 singles, respectively, and Matt and Aaron Kleiner at No. 2 doubles.
 
Mount Greylock travels to Pittsfield on Tuesday.
