WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Sarah Stripp scored seven goals to lead the Mount Greylock Regional School girls lacrosse team to a 16-11 win over Cathedral on Tuesady in the CentralWestern Massachusetts Division 2 tournament.

The sixth-seeded Mounties (18-1-1) led by just one goal at halftime but outscored the visitors 8-3 in the final 25 minutes to advance to the quarterfinals, where Mount Greylock will face third-seeded Littleton (13-5), which received a bye into the quarters.

"This was a hard fought, good game from start to finish," Mount Greylock coach Lindsey von Holtz said.

"As a third-year program, the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team had their first home tournament game, and is was amazing to win it and proceed on to the next step of the tournament."

Kelsey Orpin scored three goals, and Rachel Clement and Maggie Rorke scored two apiece for the Mounties, who were without one of their leading scorers with Lucy Barrett fighting an illness.

"Alex Delano came up big with five caused turnovers for the defense, while Maggie Rorke led the team with five draw controls," von Holtz said.

Sam MacWhinnie and Paige Willis each had two saves for the Mounties.

Elsewhere in the Division 2 sectional tournament on Tuesday night, No. 10 Wahconah (11-5-2) lost at No. 7 Tyngsboro (10-8), 14-8.
