Majetich, Deris Top Berkshire Finishers at All-States

WESTFIELD, Mass. — Mount Greylock's Alex Majetich and Monument Mountain's Iolani Deris were the top Berkshire County finishers on Saturday at the Massachusetts All-State Championships.

Majetich finished third in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.33 seconds, behind Barnstable's Amanda Henson (12.12). The Mounties senior also placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 36 feet flat; Central-Western Mass champion Brooke Nadeau of Millbury won the state title with a mark of 36-7.5.

Deris finished third in the javelin with a throw of 123 feet, 2 inches. Millbury's Molly McCausland, who won at the sectional last Monday, repeated her finish atop the podium with a mark of 131-8.

Drury's Ali Tatro finished 11th in the state in the javelin with a throw of 112-8. On the boys' side, Lenox senior Scott Carpenter, a double winner at the sectional, was fifth on Saturday in the 2-mile run (9:32.43) and 17th in the 800 meters (1:58.65).

Monument's Jesse Dupont was 10th in the javelin (166-4). Wahconah's Marcus Duncan was 15th in the 400 meters (50.63), and Eric Klem was 21st in the mile (4:49.57).

For Hoosac Valley, sophomore Dante Sandifer ended a successful season in the triple jump with a mark of 39-8.5 that was 21st best in the state.  Tyler Mach missed a spot in the 100 meter finals by .16 seconds, and Travis Ciempa was 23rd in the mile, finishing in 5:01.71.

Hoosac's Megan Rodowicz was 21st in the 800 (2:25.03). In the girls mile, Mount Greylock's Emily Kaegi finished 13th with a time of 5:24.97. Pittsfield's Lauren Farry was 12th in the 2-mile run (11:48.06).
