County Track Stars Open D6 State Meet
MEDFORD, Mass. – After one day at the Division 6 Track and Field Championships at Tufts University, the Mount Greylock girls are in second place, and the Mount Greylock boys are in third.
The county registered its first individual champions of the 2026 season when: Monument Mountain junior Everett Pacheco clocked a time of 9 minutes, 29.35 seconds to win the 2-mile run by just under nine seconds, and the Mounties’ senior Noah Klompus won the pole vault, clearing 12 feet, 9 inches.
Combined with Siddy Culbreth’s fourth-place finish in the triple jump, Pacheco led the Spartans into fifth place in a meet that concludes at Tufts University on Sunday.
Monument Mountain’s girls ended Friday tied for seventh place behind Amelia Desilets’ third-place finish in the 2-mile run and Polly Geddes’ fifth-place showing in the 800 meters.
Mount Greylock’s girls stand second in the state, 10 points behind Lunenburg with one day left in the meet.
On Friday, the Mounties piled up points in the 400-meter hurdles, where Katherine Goss placed third and Coralea Lash-St. John finished seventh.
Goss added a silver to her bronze in the hurdles by going 36-3.75 in the triple jump.
Other medalists for the Mounties on the girls side included Rowan Apotsos, who placed seventh in the 200 (26.96) and Brenna Lopez, who was fifth in the 2-mile run (11:37.80).
For the Mount Greylock boys, Rafael Mellow-Bartels, who was fifth in the 2-mile run (9:48.72), William Apotsos was seventh in the triple jump (42-00.75) and Nathan Gill joined Klompus on the podium in the pole vault, clearing 12-0.
Wahconah had several high finishers on Friday.
In the boys meet, Lorenzo Lewis and Cooper Calvert each placed fifth, in the 200 meters (22.73) and triple jump (43-10.25), respectively. And Julius Kablan finished seventh in the discus with a throw of 140 feet, 1 inch.
For the Wahconah girls, Kathryn Perrone was fourth in the 400 hurdles, hitting the finish line in 1:06.82.
Lenox on Friday was led by Benjamin Harwood’s sixth-place finish in the 2-mile run (9:48.91) and Elyssa Scrimo’s seventh-place showing in the 800 (2:24.66).
