Pittsfield Takes Top Seed for County Championships

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- A.J. Moore and Colby Rooney Friday led the Pittsfield bowling team to a 3-0 win over McCann Tech as the Generals took the top seed going into this week's Berkshire County Bowling League championship at Cove Lanes in Great Barrington.
 
Moore rolled a 238 game, the best of the week, and Rooney was right behind with a 237. The pair finished with the second- and third-best series of the week at 433 and 418, respectively.
 
McCann Tech's Brandon Vallone rolled a 234 on his way to the week's top series, a 458, but the Generals took the three points they needed to slide ahead of the Hornets in the league standings.
 
Aleasia Yeaton had a big week for the Hornets, rolling a 232 game that is the high game in the league this winter. 
 
Her 418 series was the second-best among the girls on Friday; the top series belonged to Mount Greylock's Taylor Callahan, whose 224-200--424 is the second-best series rolled on the girls side this season.
 
Mount Greylock took one team point in a 2-1 loss to Drury, which got a 224 from Michael Oakes.
 
Alex White's 237-173--410 helped Wahconah to a 3-0 win over Lee.
 
Taconic picked up its first team win of the season, edging Mount Everett, 2-1, behind a 169 game from Alexis Hamel.
 
Before Friday's matches, the league celebrated its seniors and honored its all-star team.
 
League standings going into the Friday, Feb. 15, championship at Cove Lanes: 1. Pittsfield 22-5; 2. McCann Tech 21-6; 2. Wahconah 21-6; 4. Lee 14-13; 4. Drury 14-13; 6. Mount Greylock 8-19; 7. Mount Everett 6-21; 8. Taconic 2-25.
