PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield boys and girls swim teams defeated the Taconic boys and girls in their meet Friday afternoon at the Pittsfield YMCA.

The boys won, 95-43, and the girls, 95-75.

"They swam a strong lineup," Pittsfield co-coach Jim Harrington said. "Jillian Campbell is by far their best swimmer and pretty much whatever she was going to swim she could probably win it, but they had some excellent races in there."

Campbell finished first in the 50 free and the 100 back for Taconic.

"It was actually a very close meet, we were only up by ten and I was telling the kids in a 6 lane score that can evaporate in one event," Harrington said.

"I knew they were going to have strong relays toward the end of the meet, so I told the kids as long as we swim our races and stay strong throughout the meet and don't have any catastrophic events where we lose a ton of points; and that is kind of exactly how it went, we either stayed even, gained two or loss two, but I don't think we ever loss more than two."

Hannah King and Emily Taylor for Pittsfield are both on the line of qualifying for Western Mass. Harrington said they have two more meets along with individuals coming up, where hopefully the two can qualify.
