Calvert Finishes First at Meet of Champions
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Wahconah’s Cooper Calvert Saturday cleared 6 feet, 8 inches, to earn the boys high jump title at the Massachusetts Meet of Champions at Merrimack College.
Calvert’s six nearest competitors topped out at 6-6.
The Berkshire County contingent took home three medals from Day 2 of the two-day all-state meet.
In the girls javelin, Mount Greylock’s Nora Lopez posted a mark of 123 feet, 10 inches. The event was won by South Hadley’s Natalie Rios with a throw of 125-4.
In the boys 400 meter run, Pittsfield’s Emmanuel Anwomeah placed eighth with a time of 49.33 seconds.
