McCann Tech Wins Tri-County Title

With a 10-4 victory over Pioneer Valley Christian Academy Friday afternoon at Joe Wolfe Field, the McCann baseball team earning their first Tri-County title since 1987.

It started right in the first inning for the Hornets; junior pitcher Austin Miller got off to a slow start allowing three men on base. Wit the bases loaded Miller struck out the next three batters; going into the top of the second after putting two runs on board in the bottom of the first Miller had a 1-2-3 inning putting up six strikeouts in the first two innings.

Pioneer Valley got on board in the top of the third inning, but McCann came out and added six runs.

Collin Racette scored on a single from Miller, Charles Bohl had an RBI single, senior Adam LeClair drove in two runs on a single, Cam Anderson had an RBI single, and LeClair came home on a bases loaded hit batter putting the score at 8-1 after three.

Pioneer Valley plated two in the top of the fourth and got three runners out at first for McCann leaving the score at 8-3. They added their final run in the top of the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth Miller had an RBI double; followed by an RBI single in the sixth inning from James Pierce bringing in Adam Rodriguez to put the final score at 10-4.

Miller pitched all seven innings for McCann striking out eleven.

The Hornets finish their season with a 16-4 record; they've secured a spot in the Western Massachusetts Tournament.
