CHESHRE, Mass. -- Colin Kline allowed a leadoff home run against Monument Mountain on Saturday. After that, it was all smooth sailing for the Hurricanes' pitching staff, which held the Spartans scoreless for the next seven innings until Hoosac scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn a 2-1 win in extra innings on Saturday.

Kline gave up the home run to Monument's John Kinne to start the game but only allowed two hits, struck out five batters and walked none over the first five and one-third innings before turning the ball over to senior Nick Burzimati. The Hurricane reliever was stellar over the final two plus innings, giving up just one hit over the final eight outs to pick up his first win of the season.

The Hoosac offense, which collected eight hits on the day, tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Senior Aaron Solari led the 'Canes attack, going 3 for 3 with an RBI and one run scored. He also scored the game's winning run from third base on a throwing error by Kinne in the top of the eighth inning after Tanner Bird hit a sharp grounder to the Spartans' shortstop. Classmate Zach Larabee also had a good day with a 3 for 4 outing at the plate. Solari and Larabee each singled to start the eighth, setting the table for Hoosac's extra-inning victory.

The Hurricanes are back in action again on Sunday with a 1 p.m. game at Taconic.
