Taconic, Hoosac Baseball Rained Out

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Mother Nature played an April Fool's Day joke on the baseball teams from Taconic and Hoosac Valley on Friday afternoon.

In the rare season when spring sports actually started on schedule, it was torrential rain -- not lingering snow -- that kept the teams completing their opener at Hoosac.

It was a scoreless tie in the third inning when rain interrupted play, and unplayable conditions forced the teams to give up and await a date for the resumption of play.

Hoosac is scheduled to play its second home game of the year on Tuesday against St. Joseph -- assuming Monday's predicted snow does not materialize.

Taconic is scheduled to play Drury at Joe Wolfe Field on Tuesday.
