Nowlan pitches Mounties past Millionaires

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Senior Tommy Nowlan went after the Lenox baseball team with first-pitch strikes time after time on Tuesday afternoon. His aggressive pitching style kept the Millionaires playing from behind all game and led to a 6-0 home win for Mount Greylock, giving Steve Messina's club their first two-game win streak of the season. 

Nowlan got the a first-pitch strike on 18 of the 27 batters he faced, resulting in nine strikeouts and just two walks in the game. Lenox (0-7) was unable to get a hit off the senior captain until there were two outs in the top of the fifth inning. Overall, Nowlan allowed just three hits on his way to improving his season record to 3-2. 

The Mounties, which improved to 4-5 with the win, got to Millionaires starter Jared Miller early and chased him form the game after four innings of work. The hosts scored one run in the first inning and two each in the second in fourth frames to open up a 5-0 lead. Greylock ended up with nine hits on the day, led by junior Billy Pulasky, who went 2 for 3 with three RBI and one run scored. 

Sophomore Sean Houston led the game off with a triple on his way to a 2 for 4 day with an RBI and a run scored, while senior Brandon DeCelles chipped in with two hits, a run scored and a run batted in. 

The Mounties next play at Wahconah at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
