WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock baseball team's late-season surge continued on Thursday with a 12-2 home win over Holyoke Catholic. The Mounties have won six of their last seven games to improve their season record to 11-8.

Freshman Robbie Buffis continued to impress from the mound, improving his record to 3-0 by allowing one earned run on five hits. He struck out three batters and walked two in a complete-game performance.

On the other side of the ball, Greylock took advantage of four Gaels' errors on defense to score 12 runs on only seven hits. Steve Messina's club took control of the game with a four-run second inning and then blew it open with a seven-run fifth. Kyle Byrnes, Kevin Agostini and Sean Houston each had a RBI in the second, while Byrnes and junior Billy Pulasky both had two-run doubles to key the big run in the fifth. Byrnes led all Mounties' hitters by going 2 for 3 with three RBI and a run scored.

Greylock closes out the regular season with a Berkshire Classic game against Taconic at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
