GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – The Frontier baseball team scored five times in the top of the fifth to erase a four-run deficit and went on to a 5-4 win over Monument Mountain in the Spartans’ season opener on Monday.

Gus Luff led Monument Mountain at the plate and carried most of the load on the mound.

Luff went 4-for-4 with a solo home run. Dom Calautti contributed a 2-for-4 day with an RBI at the plate.

On the bump, Luff struck out seven and walked one while allowing just two earned runs as the hard-luck loser. Mason Bailey threw two innings of scoreless relief.

Monument Mountain (0-1) hosts Hopkins Academy on Friday.
