Hoosac Valley Recognizes Seniors Committed to College Sports Programs
CHESHIRE, Mass. – Hoosac Valley High School Wednesday celebrated six seniors who plan to continue their athletic careers in college.
The ceremony featured a diverse group of Hurricanes – and one Drury High senior who competes on a cooperative team hosted by Hoosac Valley – who have made a lasting impact on the school communities:
Noah Rehill, football. Rehill has signed on to continue his football playing career at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. Rehill played a key role the last two seasons in leading Hoosac Valley into the Division 8 playoffs. This season was his best as he settled into a fullback role and was a bulldozer for the 'Canes. Rehill also played defensive line during his time at Hoosac Valley and is a high honors student.
Max Griffin, lacrosse. Griffin signed on to continue his lacrosse career at Manhattanville College. He has spent the last three seasons between the pipes for the Hurricane Lacrosse team. Recently he collected his 500th career save and was a part of the back to back Western Mass Championship teams for Hoosac Valley. Griffin is another high honors student at Drury High.
Hannah Lord, softball. Lord has patrolled Centerfield for the Hurricanes the last five seasons. She will be continuing her athletic career at MCLA next fall. Lord is having a great senior season in helping lead the Hurricanes to a league title and are currently unbeaten. A great defender, Lord has been known to make some acrobatic plays in the field and has been a mainstay in the middle of the Hurricane lineup.
Cameron Odvar, lacrosse. Odvar will join teammate Griffin at Manhattanville College next year. A talented attacker for the Hurricanes, he was a key cog in Hoosac Valley's back to back Western Mass Championships. Odvar remains one of the top offensive threats in the Berkshires and will once again lead them into the postseason.
Logan O'Connell, wrestling. O'Connell will continue his stellar wrestling career at Springfield College. He has competed the last number of years over at Mount Greylock as part of the cooperative program with the Mounties. O'Connell wrestled in the 215-pound class this year and placed seventh in the state. As a member of the Pride next season, he intends to compete at 184 pounds.
Izzy Tart, softball. Tart has put together a stellar career as a Hurricane within the Softball program and will continue playing at Lasell College. Tart is leading the Berkshires in home runs and leads the unbeaten Hurricanes. Currently ranked No. 3 in the MIAA Power Rankings, Tart is the centerpiece of a potent Hoosac Valley offense. She is also an above average defender anchoring third base for the Hurricanes.
