CHICOPEE, Mass. – Three Hoosac Valley Hurricanes scored five goals apiece in Friday’s 17-5, season-opening win over Chicopee.

Emma Meczywor and Lauren Davis each finished with five goals and two assists, and Jacinta Felix scored five times.

“This was a great team effort for our first time outside,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West. “Lauren Davis, Emma Meczywor and Ashlyn Lesure dominated in the circle on draws to create and maintain control offensively.”

Lesure had a goal and two assists, and Jazmin Gregory scored a goal.

Kennedy Whitley made four saves to earn the win in goal.

“I was also impressed with our ground game given our first time outside,” West said. “There are so many positives about this team. I'm excited to see what they do this season.”

Hoosac Valley (1-0) hosts McCann Tech on Tuesday.
