Newberry, Sweet Power Mounties Past Drury

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Emma Newberry and Kami Sweet each hit a pair of home runs Monday to lead the Mount Greylock softball team to a 15-7 win over Drury in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C tournament.
 
One of Newberry’s homers was a grand slam as she drove in seven runs.
 
Sweet drove in three runs, and A.J. Pelkey had a pair of RBIs on a 2-for-4 hitting performance that included a triple.
 
Sweet earned the win in the circle, going the distance and allowing just two earned runs while striking out 10.
 
The Blue Devils had six hits. Ariana Rivard went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and scored a run.
 
Mount Greylock (12-7) awaits the winner of Tuesday’s game between Franklin Tech and Frontier.
