PALMER, Mass. -- Sarah Fortini homered, tripled and drove in three runs as the McCann Tech softball team Thursday bounced back from its first loss of the season to beat Palmer, 8-6.

Ayrian Quinones tripled to start the winning rally in the top of the seventh. Aubrey Tetlow reached when she was hit by a pitch, and Megan Goyette drove both home to break a 6-6 tie.

“Sarah Fortini led the offense with a triple and home run and three RBIs,” McCann Tech coach Robin Finnegan said. “[In right field, she] also ran a country mile to get a ball that hit a gap and started a double relay to get the girl at home.”

Goyette struck out six to earn the win in the circle and helped her cause by going 2-for-4 at the plate. Hannah Stack went 2-for-3, walked twice and drove in a run.

“I’m very proud of the way this team rebounded and fought after a tough loss against Southwick,” Finnegan said.

McCann Tech (6-1) is home on Friday against Drury.
