SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Emily Gilmore went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBis Tuesday to lead the Mount Everett softball team to an 18-6 win over Chicopee.

Julia Devoti struck out 13 and allowed four earned runs in the circle as the Eagles won their second game in two days to start the season.

“Much better job today on our end,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “We still have some mental things to work on but like we said yesterday a win is a win regardless of how pretty we look. I did like the approach most of the girls made today and are showing improvement which was good to see.

“Julia did a great job again in the circle hitting her spots and Emily Gilmore is doing a great job behind the plate keeping her in check.”

Tonilynn Smith went 2-for-4, and Makayla Carpenter drove in three runs for the Eagles, who pounded out eight hits and took advantage of nine Pacers errors.

Mount Everett (2-0) hosts Hoosac Valley on Thursday.
