Greylock Blows by Lenox in Mercy-Rule Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock softball team flexed its offensive muscles on Saturday, pounding out 23 hits on its way to a 21-0 mercy-rule win over Lenox. The Mounties scored 18 runs combined in the first three innings of a game shortened to just five frames. 

Junior Anna Penna, sophomore Markell Shea and freshman Miranda Voller each had three hits in the game. Penna hit a triple to go along with her two runs batted in. Shea also finished with two RBI, while Voller drove in one run and scored four more. 

Sophomore hurler Heather Tomkowicz struck out four batters in just two innings of work to pick up the win. She also went 2 for 2 with three runs batted in at the plate. Classmate Kendal Frye finished things up for Greylock (11-4) in the circle, striking out four batters with one walk over the final three innings of the game. 

The Mounties return to action on Monday with a road game at Taconic at 4:15 p.m.
