WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock softball team does Senior Day a little bit differently than some programs -- saving the bulk of the ceremony for after the game.

Apparently, the Mounties could not wait to get to that ceremony.

Mount Greylock scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull away for a 16-4 win over Drury that ended in the middle of the fifth.

Seniors Miranda Voller, Dana Clement and Desiree Dufur each contributed on offense with the biggest blow coming from Voller, who hit a two-run home run in the second inning.

That was Mount Greylock's second home run of that inning. First, it got a solo shot from Elena Cerveira to right center. Two batters later, Voller's shot to center gave the Mounties (8-7) a 7-2 lead.

"And all of that came with two outs," noted Mounties coach June Blake. "It was good to see that rally really propelled us to the rest of the game."

The Mounties scored in all four innings they came to the plate, and they got a strong performance in the circle from Fiona Kelley, who got off to a rocky start when Drury's Alyssa Richardson blasted a two-run homer to giv the Blue Devils a 2-0 lead.

"After that first inning, when we gave up those two quick runs, [Kelley] did a really good job of settling in after that," Blake said. "And our defense played pretty good behind her."

Defense was an achilles heel for Drury (4-9). The Blue Devils committed four errors in the first, allowing Mount Greylock to score four unearned runs and erase the early deficit.

The Devils committed four more errors in the seventh, though most of the errors moved up runners who eventually would have scored anyway thanks to four straight singles by Carly Munzer, Clement, Cerveira and Olivia DiNicola.

In addition to the home run, Voller went 3-for-4 on the day with three runs scored. Cerveira and DiNicola each had a pair of hits. Dufor had no hits, but she did have a sac fly and a sac bunt and scored a run.

She and all three Mount Greylock seniors have plenty of high school softball left. The Mounties have three more regular season game, starting Monday at Mount Everett.

"I think we're playing with some confidence," Blake said. "We're in a good place. I think we're playing our best softball right now. We're looking forward to the end part of our season -- and extending it, absolutely."
