PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Sometimes it simply comes down to catching the ball.

The Mount Greylock softball team made seven errors, while Pittsfield played mistake free in a 10-4 win at home on Friday. The Mounties miscues on defense allowed the Generals the opportunity to score nine unearned runs, turning what was a very competitive matchup between the two teams on Monday into a one-sided affair for Pittsfield in Friday's rematch.

The Mounties (5-10) played the Generals pretty even in a 7-6 loss on Monday, actually outhitting Pittsfield while making just one more error than their opponent in the game. The two squads each had eight hits against each other on Friday, but seven errors was just too much for Greylock and starter Alexis Bushika to overcome. The sophomore hurler went the distance, allowing just one earned run in the game, striking out five and walking four to take the tough loss.

The Generals jumped out of the gates quickly by scoring seven runs over the first two innings of play. Not only did Bushika compete from the circle, but she also helped the Mounties' offense by going 3 for 4 with a run batted in. Junior Michaela DiNicola also did well at the plate, going for 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Greylock is on the road again on Saturday, playing at Mount Everett at 4 p.m.
