Wildcats Hand Blue Devils Second Straight Defeat
LEE, Mass. — A positive season for a pretty young and inexperienced Drury boys' basketball team hit its first significant snag on Monday night, as the Blue Devils dropped their second game in a row in a 50-43 road loss to Lee. It's the first time Jack Racette's squad has dropped back-to-back contests, leaving Drury with an overall record of 5-4.Blue Devils junior Robert Jutras led all scorers with 19 points, but he was the one lone bright spot on offense for Drury, which only scored 20 points in the first half. The Wildcats (6-2) also put up 20 points in the first half of the game, but used a 10-7 margin in the third quarter to slowly take control of the game. Both teams struggled to make consistent baskets, but Lee spread it around a little better with three players scoring in double figures. Freshman Heamon Williams did the most damage for the hosts, netting a team-high 15 points on the night.
The Blue Devils now have a week off before meeting up with another 5-4 team next Monday night. After being the cream of the crop in Berkshire County basketball the past three seasons, both Drury and Hoosac Valley find themselves in unfamiliar waters this late in the season.
