NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Shane Fuller scored 23 points and keyed McCann's defense in a 58-41 win over Pioneer Valley Christian School on Tuesday night.

Fuller and the Hornets (5-4) held the most dangerous scorer in Western Mass to 14 points.

Genesis Arias came in averaging 37 points per game for PVCS.

"The win was a gutt effort," McCann coach Mike Nykorchuck said. "I was very pleased with our defense for the second straight game.

"Offensively, we were very sloppy and made some bad decisions. It is always satisfying to beat a good team when you don't play your best, but we will have to tighten our play up if we are going to be successful in close games."

Fuller had eight assists and four steals. Rahmer Vincent led McCann with 26 points and 13 rebounds, and Kyle Parada grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked eight shots.

McCann was up, 23-22, at half-time.

"I gave them the same speech as I did for the Franklin game on Friday," Nykorchuck said. "They were doing everything good except for putting the ball in the basket. The defense was outstanding, and we were getting good looks, but the shots weren't falling."

PVCS fell to 5-2 in the Tri-County League. McCann is 5-1 Tri-County heading to Thursday's game against St. Mary's.
