McCann Drops Second Straight to Millionaires

LENOX, Mass. — Despite playing some solid defense, the McCann Tech boys' basketball team couldn't overcome 23 offensive rebounds by Lenox in a 52-36 loss on the road on Tuesday night.

A slow start on the boards put the Hornets (0-3) in 14-8 hole after the first quarter, and continued second-chance baskets by the Millionaires (4-1) eventually took its toll on McCann, which was outscored 22-5 the rest of the first half.

"They got a ton of offensive rebounds in the first quarter," Hornets head coach Justin Kratz said. "That really took the wind out of our sails, and it was all downhlll from there. We actually played some decent defense in the first quarter, but they would always get lay-ups off offensive boards, which really broke our spirit for the night. It was a very poor job of boxing out, so we need to work harder in practice."

Chris Bravo led Lenox with a game-high 22 points. No McCann player had more than two rebounds the entire night. Seniors Zach Giron and Nate Gutmann led the way on offense for the Hornets, scoring nine and seven points, respectively.

McCann next plays at Lee at 7 p.m. on Thurdsay.
