WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock boys' basketball team wasn't happy with its lack of focus in a road win over McCann Tech on Friday night. The Mounties didn't make the same mistake twice, however, playing four complete and dominating quarters in a 71-19 home victory over Wahconah on Monday night.

Greylock head coach Bob Thistle pointed to his team's lack of focus when the Hornets outscored his squad 17-5 in the third quarter of the Mounties' previous game on Friday. Greylock came back to earn a nine-point win against McCann, but Thistle warned his players that they needed to "continue to bring four quarters of intensity every night."

The Mounties (3-0) certainly did that on Monday, scoring at least 20 points a quarter in the first three quarters of play. Greylock was in complete control the entire night, going up 21-2 after the first quarter before building an outlandish 41-8 lead at halftime.

"Our kids brought a lot of energy to the floor tonight," Thisle said. "We hit the glass, pushed the ball in transition and we were also patient with Wahconah's 2-3 zone. Our players shared the ball and worked for good looks. Defensively, we limited second-chance rebounds."

Sophomore guard Tyrell Thomas knocked down 10 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, to lead the Mounties with a game-high 24 points to go along with six rebounds. Junior Nathan Majumder nailed three triples on his way to 15 points, while junior center Tyler Picard controlled the paint with 10 rebounds.

Greylock has one more game before Christmas break, a 7 p.m. home game against Pioneer Valley Christian School on Thursday night.
