PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Preston Lannan scored 10 of the Wahconah Unified Basketball team’s last 12 points Wednesday in a 34-19 win over Pittsfield.

Wahconah jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back.

In the early going, it was the sharp-shooting of Sam Iovieno and Olivia Klindinst that helped Wahconah establish its lead.

After the visitors opened with a big run, Toby Moore helped Pittsfield settle things down with its defense.

Trey MacHaffie then lived up to his name with a 3-pointer to open the second half for Pittsfield, which matched Wahconah bucket-for-bucket throughout the half.

Lannan ended the third quarter by putting back an offensive rebound to put Wahconah up, 24-13.

And he opened the fourth quarter by converting an assist from Christian Schmitt to give Wahconah its biggest lead of the game at 13 points.

MacHaffie got Pittsfield back on the board with a shot from the outside, and Moore and Charlotte Brooke each scored in the fourth quarter, but Wahconah never let Pittsfield make any headway.

Wahconah is home on Tuesday against Southwick. Pittsfield hits the road on Oct. 19 to face Chicopee Comp.
