BELCHERTOWN, Mass. -- The McCann Tech girls' basketball team had a second half to forget on Friday, scoring just one point over the final two quarters on its way to a 60-15 loss at Belchertown.

It was a tough game for the Hornets, who showed signs of improvement in a close loss to Mount Greylock on Wednesday. Mike Dowling's club faded in Friday's game, however, scoring just six points over the final three quarters after putting nine points on the board in the opening frame.

The Orioles led 29-14 at halftime and then put the game away by outscoring McCann (1-5) 14-0 in the third quarter. Marrissa Kopacz scored a game-high 16 points and added eight rebounds for Belchertown, which also received 13 points from Tea Spellacy.

Senior guard Mary Nguyen led the Hornets by scoring nine points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

McCann next hosts Holyoke Catholic at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
