WIILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- On Friday night, the Monument Mountain girls basketball team scored 16 points in a home loss.

Less than 24 hours later, two of the Spartans nearly matched that total on their own.

Natalie Lewis scored 15, and Elle Hull added 14 to lead the Spartans to a 50-38 win over Mount Greylock.

The Spartans trailed just once, at 2-0, and led by as many as 14 in avenging a 48-37 loss in Great Barrington earlier this month.

"We did a really good job of doing a lot of things we haven't done all year," Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. "Putting 50 points on the board, that's huge for us. We shot with confidence today. I felt we did some really good things today to take that next step to getting better. And that's all we're trying to do today is get better.

"We had good looks last night [against Wahconah], but we didn't convert anything. Today, I think we got to the foul line more and did a good job of finishing plays. We went north to south today, which we haven't done. We do a lot of east to west, but we haven't gone to the basket."

The Spartans held Mount Greylock to a lot of one-and-done trips in the first quarter, with Hull and Abby Wade grabbing most of the rebounds.

Meanwhile, Hull hit a 3-pointer and scored seven first-quarter points to help her team build a 13-5 lead.

It stayed an eight-point margin at half-time, but the Spartans used an 8-2 run at the start of the third to stretch their lead.

Lewis got things started with a triple with an assist from Abby Dohoney. Hull (16 rebounds) capped the run with a rebound and a basket in transition to make it 34-20.

At the end of the third, Mount Greylock's Delaney Babcock (12 points, 12 rebounds) was fouled putting back an offensive rebound and sank both her shots to get the margin down to 10 points.

And midway through the fourth, Charlotte Coody (eight points, 18 rebounds) hit a pair of free throws to get her team within seven at 41-34.

But Monument Mountain went 5-for-7 at the foul line down the stretch to keep the game out of reach.

"We made free throws down the stretch, real clutch free throw shooting, so that was cool," Koldys said. "I'm pumped. I'm very happy. It will make the drive home a little happier."
