Persian, Bollywood and Tap Dances Set at Simon's Rock

Lighting design by Andre Schiff and students Simon�s Rock dance students and teacher Wendy Shifrin will give a performance on Dec. 7 and 8 in the McConnell Theater of the Daniel Arts Center, at 7:30p.m. The dances will represent a broad range of style and custom, from Persian to Bollywood, belly dancing to tap. Two dances will be accompanied by poetry. At least 24 separate dances will be performed on December 7 and 8. Lighting design will be provided by Andre Schiff and his lighting design students. The dances are choreographed and organized by faculty member Wendy Shifrin, who choreographs and presents two dances each year at Simon�s Rock. She studied at the University of Michigan and New York University and has recently studied with renowned dance pioneers Simone Forti and Sara Pearson in New York. The dance performance is free and the public is welcome.

Man Stabbed in Face in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass.— A man was stabbed in the face near Melville Street on Sunday night. 

Around 9:43 p.m. on June 14, Pittsfield police responded to a reported stabbing on the downtown street between North and First Streets.  

A 41-year-old man, who was not named, sustained a stab wound to the face and was transported to Berkshire Medical Center, where he was treated for a "serious, although not life-threatening injury." 

A Facebook live video posted by a community member on Sunday evening showed crime scene tape and cones in the road in front of the Boys and Girls Club. 

Police did not provide any additional information at this time.
