Bob Balogh's "Words Out Loud" at the Ramsdell Library, Housatonic, MA in the library's performance hall Friday, November 7th, 7-9PM, for poets, storytellers, musicians, comics, improv and performance artists. Visual artists are also encouraged to come and show off their artistic works!  Refreshments will be served!

Poetry Group with W.C. Wampler, Wednesday, November 12th, at Wild Sage, 333 North Street, Pittsfield, 7-9PM.
 

FREE WORKSHOP: The Berkshire Writers Room in Pittsfield, MA and The Bookloft in Great Barrington are co-sponsoring a free 3-hour program on writing and publishing for writers of all levels. This free writing workshop entitled The Writer’s World: Working Toward Publication, will be held Thursday, November 13th, from 6 – 9 pm, at the Berkshire Community College Main Campus, Room G-10, 1350 West Street, Pittsfield. The workshop will feature award-winning local poet, contributing editor and writing instructor Michelle Gillett along with Berkshire independent literary agent and editor Nina Ryan.
 
Scriptwriting et al w/ Jeffrey Brace. Sunday, November 16th, 7-9PM, Berkshire Community College, Koussivitzky Building, Room K111 (small theatre).  Encompasses all aspects of the theater. Bring something to read. Bring your acting or behind the scenes experience to share.

All Genre Group with Walt Bell, Thursday, November 20th, in Great Barrington at the Mason Library, will be cancelled for November and December of 2008.  The next meeting will be held, January 15th, 2009.

Dalton Resident Ranks Third in National Snocross Race

DALTON, Mass. — At just 16 years old, Salvatore LaBeau is already making avalanches in the national snocross racing scene.
 
Last weekend, LaBeau raced in the Mount Zion Snocross National race in Ironwood, Mich., the first of eight races in the national circuit series. 
 
Competitions take place across national circuits, attracting racers from various regions and even internationally. 
 
Labeau rides for CT Motorsports, a team based in Upstate New York, on a 2025 Polaris 600R. 
 
This is LaBeau's first time competing on the CT Motorsports team. Years prior, he raced for a team owned by Bruce Gaspardi, owner of South Side Sales and Service in North Adams.  
 
Despite a bad first day on Friday when he fell off his snowmobile and didn't make the final, LaBeau carried on with confidence and on Saturday obtained his first national podium, placing in third for the Sport Lite class. 
 
"I'm feeling good. I'm gonna start training more when I come home, and go to the gym more. And I am really excited, because I'm in 11th right now," the Wahconah High student said.
