PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Moments House, the cancer support community, opened its new location downtown at 34 Depot St. in Suite 301.
Moments House, established in January 2011 by co-founders Alice and Danielle Trumbull, has experienced an exceptional amount of support in the Berkshire Community.
"We are thrilled to announce that we are officially open again and in a much larger space," said Alice Trumbull. "It enables us to expand our programs and services and offer additional support to Berkshire County residents impacted by a cancer diagnosis. We have been so fortunate with all the support Moments House receives from our community and we are happy to be a part of people's cancer journeys."
This move was all made possible due to the kindness of Whaling Properties and also by the generous donation of the first years rent paid in full by Patrick Muraca of Nuclea Biotechnologies. George Whaling and Rebecca Weeks, both of Whaling Properties, have been instrumental in the move for Moments House to 34 Depot St., which is about three times larger then the previous Fenn Street location.
The new space is officially open as of this week although the organization, along with Whaling Properties, is still working on making the entrance way into Moments House handicap accessible. There are a few steps down into the space that will include a wheelchair lift after the remainder of the project can be funded.
With the expansion of square footage the nonprofit now offers a full kitchen, a boutique room fully stocked with a free wig bank, scarfs, hats and a hair dresser chair, a spa room for reiki and massage, a children's area, a lending library, a large art therapy room as well as the living room and dining room spaces the group is known for having in their space. A fully functional, yet comfortable and homelike space that patients, family, friends and caregivers can all enjoy together.
Moments House is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and often later in the evenings when programs are happening. A full monthly schedule can be found on its Facebook page as well as at www.momentshouse.org.
Fundraising efforts will continue to help fund programs and services. The group's annual Slice of Life Pizza Competition is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at the Crowne Plaza. Those interested in volunteering can stop into the office during operating hours. Donations are accepted online, in person or can be mailed to 34 Depot St. Berkshire County companies looking to become Corporate Partners of Moments House can contact Alice Trumbull at alice@momentshouse.org or at 413-443-6800. Community support is vital to the success of an organization like Moments House and it is continuously looking for community partners to support its efforts.
