DALTON, Mass. -- A strike 'em out/throw 'em out double play Wednesday capped a dramatic, 12-9, seven-inning win for the Dalton-Hinsdale 10-year-old All-Stars in the Don Gleason District 1 Tournament.

 

Thomas Kuzdeba delivered the third strike from the mound, and Ryker Williams delivered the ball from behind the dish to cut down the runner and begin the celebration for the hosts in their battle against the Pittsfield Nationals (1-2).

 

Kuzdeba came on in relief in the seventh after Dalton-Hinsdale got three innings from Leah Melle and 3-1/3 from Cam Sievers, who struck out eight.

 

Sievers helped the cause offensively by going 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Melle, Kuzdebea, Sully Duquette and Calvin Wilds each had a hit.

 

Dalton-Hinsdale (1-1) finishes pool play Thursday night by finishing the game it started against Great Barrington (0-2) on Saturday. Dalton-Hinsdale led, 3-0, in the second inning when that game was interrupted by rain.

 

Pittsfield Little League's American Division All-Stars finished pool play with a record of 3-0. The top two teams from pool play will meet in the championship on Saturday at noon at Chamberlain Park.
