MCLA Information Sessions for Continuing Education, Graduate Programs

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Division of Graduate & Continuing Education (DGCE) will host information sessions for those interested in completing a Bachelor's Degree or pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

The 30-minute information sessions will be available in person and online in North Adams and Pittsfield.

The community is invited to the Nov. 1 information session at 5 p.m. remotely online only, Nov. 8 at 12 p.m. in Pittsfield at 66 Allen St., and Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. in North Adams, MCLA Eldridge Hall room 206, with optional remote registration for the latter two sessions.

MCLA's Degree Completion programs are designed for adult learners seeking accelerated, non-traditional pathways to completing Bachelor's Degrees. Each program uses a cohort-style learning format, in which students begin their courses of study in groups with their peers and proceed through the program together.

Each information session will provide participants with an overview of DGCE programs, including the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Education (MEd), degree completion programs (Business Administration & Interdisciplinary Studies), and certificate programs (Accounting & Cybersecurity).

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree includes Business Administration or a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. Students in the Interdisciplinary program may focus on Children, Families, Society, Leadership and Business, Health and Human Services, or with assistance from an advisor to create an individualized plan of study.

Program leaders will meet with session participants to provide an overview of DGCE's curriculum and programs including Program locations, schedules, tuition costs, financial aid, and how to apply, transfer credit, academic support, student services, and career opportunities.

The program offers classes in the evening at MCLA Pittsfield and online one night per week to accommodate students meeting the demands of work, family, and their studies. Community members interested in pursuing a graduate degree or finishing their bachelor's degree with evening classes at MCLA's location in Pittsfield, are encouraged to attend. Representatives from each program will answer questions related to academics, the application process, education timelines, and more.

North Adams UNO Art Club Extends Into Year-Round Community Program

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown is expanding the summer program UNO Drop-In Art Club into a weekly, 50-week program for local youth ages 8 to 19, thanks to a new two-year grant from the W.L.S. Spencer Foundation.

Starting Wednesday, Oct. 7, the club reopens its doors at the UNO Community Center (157 River St., North Adams) with extended hours every week from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The UNO Art Club first took root in 2022, founded by local volunteers and supported by the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition as a safe, welcoming space for kids to explore their creativity. In 2024, NBCC sought new partners to keep the program running and joined forces with the Clark and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.

Over the past two summers, staff from all three organizations have guided kids through hands-on projects — from clay sculpture and origami to collage and self-portraiture — often inspired by ongoing exhibitions at the museums.

Now, with leadership from the Clark, this grant will allow the program to grow, not only with expanded hours and a year-round schedule, but also to support a paid intern to lead the weekly activities.

Additional benefits of the grant: The Clark will provide rides directly from the UNO Community Center so participants can attend major community events, including First Sundays Free and the annual Community Day. Youth will also take field trips to the Clark, Mass MoCA, and neighboring arts venues across the region.
