Chicken BBQ to Benefit Dalton Fire Department, Church Fund

DALTON, Mass. — Dalton United Methodist Church at 755 Main St. will host a chicken barbecue on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to benefit the Dalton Fire Department and the church's Roof & Restoration Fund.
 
In addition to chicken, the menu will include corn on the cob, potato salad, watermelon, brownies and beverages. 
 
Tickets for the barbecue are $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. Take-out meals are available. For further information, contact the church (684-0521) or Bernie Klem (684-3286).

Dalton Tops Lanesborough in 12-Year-Old Little League Tourney

DALTON, Mass. – Tony Zaniboni went 2-for-2 with a home run and three runs batted in Thursday to lead the Dalton-Hinsdale Little League 12-year-old All-Stars to a 13-1 win over Lanesborough in the Don Gleason District 1 Tournament.
 
Tye Shove was 2-for-3 with a triple and five RBIs in a seven-hit attack for the tournament hosts, who closed round-robin play with their first win of the tourney.
 
Zaniboni also earned the win on the mound, striking out nine and allowing just one unearned run in three innings of work. Parker Demarsh finished up on the hill for DH.
 
Allen Salguero went 1-for-2 with an RBI for Lanesborough, which also got hits from Noah Higgins and Rowan Higgins.
 
The round-robin ends on Friday night at Chamblerain Park when undefeated Adams-Cheshire meets undefeated Pittsfield in a preview of next Wednesday’s District 1 Championship Game.
